Medal Of Honor Review II - Part 2 The missions are reminiscent of the those you may have seen on film. The omaha beach scene is cut straight from Saving Private Ryan, and the atmosphere has been captured perfectly. You will see fellow soldiers crouched sobbing behind the little cover available. Mortars explode all around you. It has to be experienced to be appreciated. Other missions remind me of films such as Where Eagles Dare, you will find yourself breaking into a prison to rescue an SAS officer, before sabotaging the bases primary defences. The weapons you will use in the game are quite authentic and realistic. Guns such as the famous tommy gun, the Garand and the sniper rifle, which is particularly satisfying to use. Also a selection of grenades and an RPG launcher. The graphics are very good in every respect. The environments are extremely well detailed and are a pleasure to behold. The characters are well detailed and move realistically. There is no slowdown whatsoever and I have a 700MHz P3. The sound is excellent. All the effects are very realistic and the voice acting is top notch. The music is very atmospheric and genuinely adds to the experience. You'll definitely want to turn your volume up while playing. I don't know of any other FPS that captures the atmosphere of war so well. The plot and game itself is well designed, and the whole thing plays out like a film. Although fairly linear, the game constantly throws up surprises and it never seems to get repetitive at all. The game features the usual multiplayer options should you wish to go head to head with some mates . A very good game indeed. |

Medal Of Honor Review II - Part 1 Medal of Honor has been around for a while now. Don't let this put you off, this is still one of the best first person shooters available on any system! The genre has been with us since the early days of wolfenstein 3D and the doom series. Games publishers have tried tweaking every aspect of the game engine to make it more appealing to gamers. New and innovative weapons, large impressive environments, intelligent enemies, and of course, great multiplayer modes. Well I can tell you, what a FPS needs more than anything is atmosphere, and MOHAA is swimming in the stuff. Quite a straight-forward story, it is the early 1940's, you have recently enlisted in the US Army and are headed for south west europe to take part in the campaign. Your mission? To help your country crush the nazi regime using any means necessary. Grab your kit and rifle and be ready for one hell of a challenging tour of World War II. The missions vary greatly, in environments, tasks and rules. One minute you will be running up a beach with many of your comrades, trying to avoid heavy machine gun fire and find cover. The next you will be infiltrating an enemy submarine disguised as a nazi officer. There really is a lot of variety and the different mission types work well, you are rarely if ever doing one task long enough to get bored. |
